TinyTalk Baby Signing – last chance to join! |

The Toy Library held a festive grotto at the Blitz Factory Christmas Fair, 5th to 6th December. This popular event enabled young visitors to meet Santa, receive a gift and have a photo taken. If you have yet to claim your photo, email us at toylibraryxmas@gmail.com. Thank you to our volunteers for successfully running the grotto, and warm thanks to our supporters: Fluffy’s Bakery of Leyton and Estates 17 of Walthamstow for inviting Santa; The Mall for providing gifts; and our helpful hosts, the Blitz Factory and God’s Own Junkyard. With this generous support, the Toy Library raised over £1000! |

New for January! TinyTalk’s award-winning baby signing classes are coming to the Toy Library. Signing helps babies to learn to communicate before they can talk. TinyTalk classes teach British Sign Language to babies and their carers through songs, activities and stories, and include sensory activities and social time. Once your baby is signing, you will no longer have to guess the cry (tired, hungry, hot, cold). 12-week term starts from 7th January 2015. Sessions starts at 3.30pm, on Wednesdays. |

Welcome to our New Committee and Staff We are delighted to welcome a new playworker, Kelly Hayes. The following parents are on the Walthamstow Toy Library and Play Centre Committee for 12 months from November 2014: Melissa Bryant (Chair), Becca Connock (Vice-Chair), Simon Aronson (Treasurer), Lucy Duggal (Secretary); Kylie Burford, Ronnie Chavez-Acosta, Penni Grodzicka, Beth Hickman, Lisa Hundt Baxter, Alice Lloyd, Kiren Mitra-Hawksbee, Amy Whalley and Claire Young. The Toy Library thanks previous committee members Terri Harris (Chair), Paul Brown (Treasurer), Violet Koska and Mel Wakely.
40th Anniversary Celebrations 2015 will be a landmark year for the Toy Library, and in our next newsletter and on our website, we will announce a programme of special events to commemorate this milestone. We would dearly love hear from past members, committee, donors and especially former staff and volunteers. We encourage ‘alumni’ to get in touch via the details below and share your memories, photographs and mementos of the Toy Library with us.

Integrated Mother and Baby Yoga with Sam Syer This class promotes wellbeing via simple postures, sequences and breathing techniques to soothe, strengthen and boost vitality for mothers. For the baby yogi, sequences encourage their natural flexibility, development, and strength and their instinctive movements. All babies welcome, from newborn to 12 months. Pregnancy Yoga with Sam Wood Classes include yoga asana specifically modified to pregnancy, breathing techniques that are useful during pregnancy and labour, pelvic floor exercises, guided meditation and relaxation. Suitable for those 15 weeks pregnant onwards. New course starts 12 January. Monday, 7–8.05pm, £54 for 6-week course.
Yoga and Relaxation with Sam Wood These classes have a restorative and therapeutic focus. Learn yoga postures, restorative poses, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation. The classes are suitable for all levels and are ideal for beginners, those returning to yoga after a break, or living with an illness or injury. New course starts 12 January.
