Table Top Sale Sun 14th September, 12.30–3.30pm

£1 for adults, accompanied children FREE. All proceeds go to Walthamstow Toy Library and Play Centre.

Pop into our Table Top Sale this Sunday. As well as a chance to snap up a nearly-new bargain, there will be a cake and refreshment stall, and handmade, up-cycled items for sale. There will also be a raffle: a food hamper, two family swim-session tickets from Leyton Leisure Centre, and some very interesting cushion covers are all up for grabs! Many thanks to The Spar in the Village and our committee for donating these items.

Once again we are delighted to work with young volunteers from our local community, who are passionate about helping their local community. This venture has been organised by the National Citizen Service powered by The Challenge. In 2013, The Challenge renovated the Toy Library Garden.

The Challenge will also be run a marketing and fundraising campaign for the Toy Library on Sunday 21st September, by the playground on Walthamstow High Street. Do drop by and show your support.

Annual General Meeting Tues 11th November, 10am–12pm

While helping to clear up a play session our Centre Manager was called the ‘Keeper of the Toy Library’ by Wilf, aged 4. This truly sums up the role of not only our staff but management committee members too. As a charity, by law we have to have an elected management committee, who oversee the day to day running of the organisation, and help with the variety of fundraising events and local activities that we take part in.

Walthamstow Toy Library needs an enthusiastic committee who can contribute time, dedication and energy to make a difference. 2015 is a very exciting year for the Toy Library as we will mark our 40th anniversary – a fantastic achievement for a small, local charity, and accordingly we have lots of celebratory events planned.

Learn more about committee roles and responsibilities, either on our website, in the Toy Library, or to speak to Helen Crockford, our Centre Manager. If you are sure that you would like to help, then please fill in the nomination form below.

We need 5% of our membership to attend, so admission to the play session on Tues 11th November is FREE.

PLAY SESSIONS NEWS

Santa’s Grotto Sat 6th / Sun 7th December, 10am–5pm

Admission charge and further details to be announced

We hardly dare mention Christmas, but we are delighted to announce that Santa Claus will be visiting us at the Toy Library! The Toy Library wants to make him very welcome, so we are appealing for donations to help decorate our grotto. Please help us find the following items:

  • Lengths of fabric, 2 metres or longer, in blue, white, silver, green or red.
  • Any unwanted Christmas decorations.
  • Fairy lights!

Please drop off any donations at the Toy Library during session times. We are also looking for volunteers to help host Santa's visit. If you can spare 3 hours or more, please speak to a play worker. We will not make you dress up as an elf (unless of course you wish to).
