Play Sessions
Play sessions run at both sites everyday, there’s no need to book, you can just turn up. To attend Toy Library sessions at either of our sites, you need to be a member. You can join at your first play session or find out more about membership here.
Sessions cost £5.50 for the first child and £2.50 for additional children.
For families on low or no income the fee is £1 for the first child and 50p for additional children. For families with no recourse to public funds sessions are FREE.
All play sessions are run by trained early years staff, who plan and design sessions to support our ethos of learning through play.
During the first hour we have free play where your child can choose what they’d like to do and you can relax with tea or coffee! We break for a healthy snack and the session ends with circle time (singing, storytelling, music and movement) and an opportunity to borrow toys.

Toy Loaning
Opening hours:
Our toy loaning rooms are open daily Monday to Friday: 9:30am - 3:30pm. There’s no need to book – just turn up - but you do need to be a member.
We also operate a Mobile Toy Library service for Waltham Forest residents – you can get toys delivered to your door every Friday! We ask for a minimum hire spend of £15, plus there’s a £12 delivery/collection charge.
Our catalogue:
We have a fantastic range of toys available for hire from jigsaw puzzles to dressing-up clothes and outdoor play equipment. Hire charges range from as little as £1 for 2 weeks. You can see what’s on offer at our Walthamstow and Leytonstone sites.
Loyalty scheme:
Love borrowing toys? So do we! Our loyalty card rewards our most regular borrowers with a range of free toy loans and special rewards. Simply collect your stamps as you borrow, and enjoy a few well-earned freebies along the way.
Giving toys a second life!
Many of our toys have been kindly donated by the community and have been saved from going into landfill. We love being an environmentally conscious charity. If you are having a clear out, please consider donating to us.

Sensory Room
The Sensory Room is available for members to book throughout the week. We allow a maximum of four families per booking. You can become a member here.
Step into our beautiful Sensory Room for a 45-minute session designed to inspire curiosity, exploration and calm. Filled with colourful lights, projections, soothing sounds, tactile wall panels and a wide range of sensory toys, it's a magical space where children can play, discover and relax at their own pace.
Suitable for babies, toddlers and children with additional needs, our Sensory Room provides a safe, inclusive environment where children can explore through their senses. Whether they need to burn off energy, regulate their emotions or simply enjoy a calm, comforting space, every child is free to engage in a way that suits them.
Multi-sensory environments support children's learning and development by stimulating different areas of the brain, encouraging communication, curiosity, confidence and self-esteem. They can also help improve focus, emotional regulation and social interaction through play.
For parents and carers, it's a wonderful opportunity to slow down, connect and enjoy quality time together in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Venue Hire
Are you looking for a venue to run an event, class, workshop or meeting? Our spaces are available for hire at reasonable rates. Please get in touch for availability and prices. Or book an appointment, we’d love to show you around and discuss your needs.

Our upstairs room is light and cosy.
Capacity: 15 adults and their children.

Main Room
Our large downstairs playroom is bright and spacious.
Capacity: 70 people

Set in the middle of Langthorne Park, the room is bright and airy.
Capacity: 25 adults and their children

Birthday Hire
Interested in celebrating your child’s birthday at the Toy Library?
Birthday hire includes:
3 hour hire
Soft play equipment, or alternative
Kitchen facilities including fridge, kettle, tables and chairs, crockery and cutlery.
Birthday Pricing:
Saturday or Sunday hire, morning or afternoon.
£150 with a £50 security deposit
Additional hours at £50 per hour
In Walthamstow there's an option to extend your booking to include the small garden for £50 or the Adventure Playground for £125.
